The Epson EcoTank ET-2720 All-In-One Supertank Printer ($199) is the smallest and least expensive of Epson’s bulk ink multifunction printers. It may not be the fastest or fanciest AIO, but it produces quality prints at a low cost per page. While its print speed editors’ choice doesn’t match the Canon Pixma G6020 MegaTank All-in-One Printer, it’s still a solid choice for home offices.
At 7 by 14.8 by 13.7 inches and weighing just over 13 pounds, you’ll be hard-pressed to find an AIO printer, especially a bulk ink model, that takes up less desk space. The Epson ET-4760 and Canon G6020 are several inches larger in every direction and weigh several pounds. On the other hand, the Epson ET-2760 is very similar to the ET-2720 in size, features and price.
To be precise, for the $100 price difference between the ET-2720 and ET-2760, you’re giving up that the latter comes with various SD card support options and voice activation via Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and other voice assistants. Activation of services through simple IFTTT scripts. The first does not support one or the other.

The ET-2720’s simple control panel includes a 1.44-inch non-touch color display that is navigated using a set of arrow keys, along with OK, Home, Help, Back, Copy and Cancel buttons. As mentioned, the ET-2720 doesn’t have an ADF, so the copies and scans you make will mostly be single-sided, one- or two-page jobs, compared to the multi-page scans that can be done on the Epson ET-2720. 3760 and ET-4760.
Among the Canon MegaTank bulk ink machines, only the Pixma G4210 comes with an ADF, as do the HP OfficeJet Pro Premier and the Editors’ Choice OfficeJet Pro 9015. Also, the ET-2720 only supports manual two-sided printing, which means that to print two two-sided pages, you have to flip them over yourself.
As with most EcoTank AIO devices, the ET-2720 ink tanks are located on the right side of the case, as shown below.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, single PC connection via USB 2.0, and Wi-Fi Direct. The latter is a peer-to-peer wireless networking protocol designed to allow mobile devices to connect to a printer without the printer being part of a local area network or connected to a router.
Other mobile connectivity options include Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Fire OS support, Mopria Print Service, and the Epson iPrint app for Android and iOS devices. The software bundle includes Epson printer drivers and the full-featured Epson Scan 2 scanner interface utility. However, compared to the sheer array of utilities that come with the Canon G6020 and many other Pixmas, the bundle that comes with the ET-2720 is minimal. At best.
In terms of paper handling, the ET-2720 comes with a 100-sheet paper tray that slides in and out of the back of the machine.
In addition to 100 sheets of plain paper, you can load ten #10 envelopes or 20 sheets of photo paper in the input tray. It also has a smaller supply of paper than competing models. For example, the G6020 holds up to 350 sheets from two separate sources. Epson’s own ET-4760 printer holds up to 250 sheets, as do the HP OfficeJet Pro Premier and 9015.

The ET-2720 has a maximum duty cycle of 3,000 prints, which is high for such a small printer. Canon rates its G6020 at 5,000 pages a month, and HP rates its Premier and 9015 machines at 22,000 pages higher than the ET-2720.
Epson rates the ET-2720, like the ET-2760, with entry-level speeds of 10.5 pages per minute (ppm) monochrome and 5 ppm color. To confirm this, I ran the tests over a USB 2.0 connection from our standard test PC with an Intel Core i5 processor running Windows 10 Professional. The ET-2720 printed our 12-page Microsoft Word text document at 10.2ppm, well below Epson’s 10.5ppm rating.
It is 1.3 ppm faster than the ET-2760 and 6.3 ppm slower than the Epson ET-3760. The Canon G6020 was 2.5 ppm faster, while the HP OfficeJet Pro Premier and 9015 beat the ET-2720 by 11.5 ppm.
I continued testing by measuring the ET-2720 as it printed our colorful and complex Adobe Acrobat documents, Excel spreadsheets, charts and graphs, and PowerPoint handouts of various business graphics and multiple font sizes and colors.
Whether For Home Use Or Business, These Are The Best Printers You Can Buy
I then combined these scores with the 12-page text document results from the previous test and came up with a 4.5 ppm score for stamping our entire set of test documents. This figure, in fact, is caught with 4.3 ppm for the Pixma G6020 and 5 ppm for the ET-2760. It beat the ET-3760 and ET-4760 by about 3ppm, and the OfficeJet Pro Premier and 9015 by 6.1ppm and 10ppm, respectively.
Finally, I finished the test by printing our detailed and vibrantly colored 4″ by 6″ test shots several times, and getting an average of 30 seconds to stamp each one. This is typical of most other Ink AIOs mentioned here, and about half of the two OfficeJets discussed here.
Most inkjet printers these days are capable of producing quality prints, and the ET-2720 is no exception. It reproduced text in our test documents clearly and with proper characters, precise and attractive spacing, and kerning at about 6 points, which is more than acceptable for most home office, family, and student homework tasks.
It printed colorful and complex PowerPoint handouts, charts, graphs, and other Excel graphics with little to no reproduction defects, although I occasionally saw some complex patterns and some light lines on dark backgrounds and fills. However, many of these ink delivery issues were, again, obscure and only noticeable in the first place when I was looking for those specific issues.
Epson Eco Tank Et 2820 Multifunction Printer Black
Images are also accurate and bright with decent detail. Yes, the ET-2720’s images weren’t quite the quality I’ve seen on Canon and Epson’s five- and six-color five- and six-ink photocentric all-in-ones and single-function printers, but most of them were spot on. More than acceptable to the curator. Family photos.
As an Epson EcoTank branded AIO, the ET-2720 will cost you 0.3 cents per black page and 0.9 cents per color page. Plus, you get enough ink in the box to print about 7,500 monochrome pages and/or 6,000 color pages.
These figures are very similar to Canon’s MegaTank brand of machines, which include three bottles of black ink per box, or enough color ink to print 18,000 black pages and about 7,700 color prints.
Only EcoTank and MegaTank printers offer such a low cost per print. For example, with HP Instant Ink, the lowest cost per page is about 2.9 cents. Additionally, the HP OfficeJet Pro Premier comes with a $9.99 annual free subscription to the company’s product and 300 pages per month, adding another $120 to the printer’s total cost.
Best Color Printer For Homeschooling With Cheap Ink
Sure, the Epson EcoTank ET-2720 lacks bells and whistles, but it prints and makes one-page copies per song, which is exactly what most families and home offices need. However, if your office is prone to high-volume printing, it’s worth spending a little more on the Editors’ Choice Canon Pixma G6020, which holds more paper and more.
