How To Clean Printer Heads Using Household Products Canon, Hp, Epson

If your Epson printer is producing blurry, faded, or faded prints, you may need to clean the nozzles. Fortunately, Epson printers have a useful program that you can use to clean them. Start by printing a test pattern from the utility menu to make sure the problem is with the nozzle. If they need to be cleaned, run a cleaning cycle and print another test pattern to make sure they are ready. If the cleaning cycle isn’t enough to solve the problem, you can hand-wash the nozzle to remove any clogs or build-up.

A permanent printhead has better quality and durability than a disposable printhead. However, it becomes a major problem when a permanent print head becomes clogged. For Epson printer owners, the day may come when the printer prints in stripes. Many people blame poor printing on third-party cartridges, ink quality, changing ink type, etc. In trying to solve the problem, Epson can go back to the cartridge. If the new Epson cartridge solves the problem, they will conclude that they should stick with Epson. If the new Epson cartridge did not solve the problem, it can be concluded that the printer was damaged during the refilling process.

Ways To Clean Epson Printer Nozzles

To understand why Epson printers jam so easily and why new cartridges sometimes solve the problem, we need to understand jamming mechanisms. There are three types of locking:

An air bubble is the most common blockage. A bubble can form when you switch to a new ink, change cartridges, or experience fluctuations in room temperature. It can also happen for no reason.

We explain why Epson cartridges look less dirty than refilled Epson cartridges. Epson cartridges have a built in damper (pictured). The damper only forces the ink to flow one way: from the cartridge to the damper and then out of the damper. For new Epson cartridges, the damper should be full of ink so bubbles are less likely. However, many people use the cartridge until they see it run out of color. By now the ink is gone and the damper is full of air. After filling the cartridge, the air in the damper can block the printer. We recommend using a syringe to remove air from the ink outlet of the cartridge after each refill. Accordingly, we remove air bubbles from the damper.

Another place where air bubbles can form is inside the print head. Let’s consider in more detail where the cartridge is fed with ink. At the top of the printer are small cone-shaped ink tubes (ink ejectors). When we change the cartridge, we can introduce air into this ink and create bubbles. This is why printers lock up as soon as the cartridge is replaced.

Most HP and Canon printers have built-in pumps to deal with air bubbles. For example, an HP printer pumps air into an internal bladder that expels ink from the cartridges and thereby removes air bubbles (or dirt) from the print head. Epson, on the other hand, relies on two things: 1) an internal one-way damper that forces ink to flow only one way. 2) Built-in cleaning function that uses an external debris pad to absorb and clean the printhead. Each built-in cleaning cycle removes ink from the cartridge and then dumps the ink onto the waste pad. However, waste pads are poorly designed and often overflow. After the ink pad is removed, the ink remains in the print head and dries. Dried paint will make more dirt and make the situation worse. Therefore, we do not recommend performing more than three head cleanings in a row.

We can illustrate the above case with an example. Our printer has lost color (blocked by air bubbles). We did 7-8 billet wipes continuously and it worked fine. The bubbles ran out of ink and we went back to regular printing. A day later we found that the printer was still blocked. Although there were no air bubbles in the cartridge, the print head was covered with dried ink.

If you search the word “Epson unclog” on YouTube, you will see many people imitating the HP method. They inject the fluid from the ink pot and collect the remaining ink with a paper towel. However, this is a bit excessive for most traffic. Here at BCH we follow this sequence, gradually increasing the blocking effort and intensity until a satisfactory result.

Don’t let the paint run out. If we let the ink run out, so will the cartridge and print head
