How To Unclog Printer Cartridge

How To Unclog Printer Cartridge – Most Epson printers have permanent print heads. Permanent print heads are better quality and more durable than disposable print heads. However, this becomes a big problem when the permanent printing mechanism becomes clogged. For Epson printer owners, there may be a day when the printer prints with lines. Many people complain about printing from third-party cartridges, poor ink quality, changing ink types, etc. As a workaround, it is possible to return to Epson cartridges. One concludes that if Epson’s new cartridges can solve the problem, Epson should stay. If a new Epson cartridge does not solve the problem, the refilling process concludes that the printer has been damaged.

To understand why Epson printers clog easily and why a new cartridge sometimes solves the problem, we need to understand the mechanism behind the clogging. There are three types of congestion:

Air bubbles are the most common blockage. Blisters may occur when switching to new ink, changing cartridges, or changing room temperature. It can appear for no reason.

Let me explain why Epson cartridges are less likely to clog than refilled Epson cartridges. The Epson cartridge has a built-in shock absorber (Figure). The protector forces the ink to flow only one way: from the cartridge to the dampers and then out of the dampers. For new Epson cartridges, the shock absorber should be full of ink, so there is less chance of bubbles. However, most people use up the color of the box until it runs out. At this point, the ink has run out and the shutter is full of air. After filling the cartridge, air in the damper can clog the printer. It is recommended to use a syringe to remove air from the ink outlet of the cartridge after each refill. As a result, we remove air bubbles from the humidifier.

Another place where air bubbles appear is inside the print head. We’ll take a closer look at where the cartridge delivers the ink. Above the print mechanism is a small conical ink tube (ink pickup). When we replace the case, we can introduce air into these inlets and create bubbles. This is why printers clog immediately after replacing cartridges.

Many HP and Canon printers have a pump to combat air bubbles. For example, an HP printer injects air into an internal bubble that pushes the ink from the cartridge and removes air bubbles (or dirt) from the print head. In contrast, the Epson relies on two things: 1) an internal one-way dampener that only allows ink to flow in one direction. 2) Cleaning function that uses foreign debris to vacuum and wipe the print head. Each built-in cleaning cycle removes ink from the cartridge and then dumps the ink onto the waste plate. However, landfills are poorly planned and often overflow. When the ink pad is full, the ink remains in the print head and dries. Dried ink can cause more blockages and make things worse. Therefore, we do not recommend cleaning three heads in a row.

We can explain the above scenario with an example. Our printer is out of color (clogged with air bubbles). We continuously performed the installed sweep 7-8 times and made it work normally. The bubbles soak into the ink and we’re back to regular printing. A day later we found that the printer was clogged again. Although there are no air bubbles in the cartridge, the printing mechanism is clogged with dried ink.

How To Clean Epson Print Head Nozzles Which Are Blocked Or Clogged?

If you search “Epson unclog” on YouTube, you’ll see many people imitating HP’s method. They squeeze the liquid out of the ink tank and collect the waste ink with a paper towel underneath. However, this is a bit overkill for most clogs. Here at BCH, we follow this sequence and gradually increase the power and intensity of unlocks until we achieve satisfactory results.

Don’t let the ink run out. If the ink runs out, both the cartridge and the printhead will fill with air. When we fill the cartridge, we suck air out of the cartridge chamber with a syringe until the ink comes out. You can also add one drop (1 ml) of Wetter’s solution to every 100 ml of ink to prevent drying.

Epson’s self-cleaning method is underrated and misunderstood. In fact, Epson has created a very powerful printer cleaning routine that only people don’t know how to use. Most people give up after just one or two cleanses. People worry that cleaning will damage the print engine. Epson has a counter, if we clean more than 5 times in a row, the printer says “printer damaged” and prevents further cleaning. That’s why we don’t sweep three times in a row. We’ll do three cleanups, go to the main screen (no waiting), then go to the maintenance tab and do the next set of cleanups.

We run the built-in “clean print engine” three times, then go to the printer’s main screen, return to the maintenance screen, and run it three more times. Then we wait 12 hours and run 6 more times (3+3). We usually repeat the procedure three times before giving up on this method. If the technique is working, clean the ink pad to prevent ink drying in the printing mechanism.

We turn on the printer. The printer unlocks the print head, allowing it to move freely. Before the printer locks the printing mechanism again, we disconnect the power cord. So we can move the printing mechanism from its place. Then we can see the exposed ink pad. We absorb excess ink with a paper towel and turn on the printer.

A slight positive pressure will also wash out the air bubbles. If we have a stuffing box, we remove the stuffing hole. When the top of the cartridge is exposed to the air, a small amount of pressure is created to push the ink down and move the air bubbles up. For refilled OEM cartridges, we remove the sealing tape and drill holes. These methods have slightly less pressure on the cartridge. We leave the box in the printer overnight. We will check the results after a day and see if we can move on to the next step. In addition, we will clean the ink residue later.

We can use the ink tube to create positive pressure. This tool (click here) consists of two tubes. These two different diameter pipes (1 foot each) can be cut and bolted together. If we have 4 colors, we divide each of them into 4 parts, and then combine each other. A small tube is attached to collect the ink, and we can add the cleaning solution to the larger tube. Then we let Earth’s gravity do the cleaning. The cleaning solution slowly dissolves the blockage and opens the pores. When we see that the cleaning solution is gone, we know the cleaning is complete. This video shows the process.

If we determine that the blockage is due to dried ink, we can use a damp towel to soften the dried ink. When unlocking the print mechanism, remove the printer as we did in procedure (2). We place a wet paper towel soaked in hot water or a cleaning solution (LINK) in the center of the printer. Then we slide the printing mechanism over the towel and leave the printing mechanism on the page for a few hours.

If we are careful, we can remove air bubbles and debris from the print head with liquid. We take a syringe, fill it with liquid, and push the liquid through a conical ink channel. Some ink inputs are included in the syringe, so we may not need a special tool. Larger applications may require tubing to connect to the syringe.

This method fills the waste ink pad. As a result, we put a dry paper towel in the printer and slide the printing mechanism over it, 4).

Ink. Real ink is the most non-intrusive method. The “golden rule” of ink production is that the dried ink must be soluble in that ink. Therefore, the best solution is to use the same type of ink in the cartridge.

Ink base. An ink base is the liquid used to make the ink before the ink is added. The ink base is a type of colorless ink. The ink base is less polluting and does not interfere with the printing mechanism. BCH produces two types of ink bases: paint base and pigment base.

Hot water. Water is the cheapest solution. But the printer cannot print in water, so it needs to be washed a little
